MS Azure - Telco를 위한 Cloud 제안(경쟁인가 협력인가?)

 

 

Azure에서 Telco를 위한 "Cloud 제안(initiative)"을 홍보하고 있습니다.

사실, 작년 9월에 런칭한 "Azure for Operators"에 대한 remind 성격의 내용으로 보입니다.

 

주요 내용은 아래와 같습니다. 

 

Azure for Operators is built on six fundamental principles:

(Telco를 위한 cloud에 대한 6가지 근본 원칙)

1. We are bringing the power of cloud to future-proof your network, driving down costs and opening new revenue streams.(우리는 Cloud의 힘으로 비용을 낮추고, 새로운 수익을 창출할 수 있게 함으로써, 당신의 네트웍이 미래에도 가치있게 만들어 줄 수 있다.) 

2. We will partner—you own your customers, brand, ideation, and experiences.
   (우리는 파트너이다, 우리와 협업을 해도, 당신은 당신의 고객,브랜드,아이디어, 경험을 그대로 가지고 있을 수 있다.)

3. We remain a platform business—our focus is on moving workloads to a carrier-grade cloud.
   (우리는 플랫폼 비즈니스에 남아 있을 것이다 - 우리의 포커스는 워크로드를  carrier-grade 클라우드로 옮기는 것이다.)

4. We will meet you where you are—on-premises, at the edge, or in the cloud.
   (우리는 당신이 있는 곳에서 당신을 만날 것이다 - 온프레미스, 엣지, 클라우드..., 어디던지 간에)

5. Support the ecosystem—we will work closely with providers of radio access network (RAN), core, cloud-native functions (CNFs), and operations support systems (OSS) or business support systems (BSS) to integrate and innovate.
   (에코를 지원한다 - 우리는 RAN, CNF, BSS 등 telco 가 혁신하는 데 필요한 모든 것들을 제공하기 위한 공급자들과 협업할 것이다.)

6. It is a journey—we will act as a trusted partner to help you transform at a pace that makes sense for your business.
   (결국 모든 것은 여정이다 - 우리는 당신에게 맞는 속도로 당신의 비즈니스를 변화시키는 것을 돕는 믿음직한 파트너로서 행동할 것이다)

Azure는 Telco와의 협업을 희망한다, Azure는 Telco의 경쟁자가 아니다, Azure는 Telco가 디지털 전환을 위해 필요로 하는 것들을 '믿음직스럽게' 제공해 줄 수 있다.. 라는 메시지를 강하게 던지고 있습니다. 

 

여기서 던지게 되는 의문들.

과연 Telco는 글로벌 Cloud사와 협업을 통해 Cloud를 도입/적용해야만 할까요?

(Telco에 맞는 Cloud를 직접 설계/구축/운용하고, 이를 경험삼아 대고객 서비스를 제공하면 안되는 것일까요?)

 

Azure를 비롯한 글로벌 Cloud사는 보통 로컬에 기반을 둔 telco의 경쟁사일까요, 아니면 협력자일까요?

이른바 경쟁적-협력(coopetiton)이 가능한 관계일까요?
